With the influx of new players and season pass holders at the field this year, we have been asked a question that we haven’t been asked in a while, “What is a scenario game?”  You have questions, we have answers.

“Scenario paintball is a type of paintball game in which players participate in a scenario, or story; and may include historical re-enactments, futuristic or video game simulations. Games tend to last in the range of hours or days, and may include a large group of players…Scenario games are almost always objective-driven in regard to scoring. Each team must complete a series of missions to score points. These may be simple “capture the flag at this location” missions to elaborate missions involving props, multiple locations, interactive non-player characters and more.”

At OSG you can expect all of those things. We drop the interior boundaries of our field. Two huge teams are created in the morning.  Each team is assigned a “commander” or “general” and given a list of 30-50 missions (with corresponding maps) to accomplish during 5-6 hours of paintball. These teams will wage paint wars across 35 acres of the most challenging paintball terrain in New England trying to capture territory, demo targets, defend key points, find collectibles, capture or “kill” NPC’s, escort motorized vehicles from point to point, escort convoys, and much more. When you are shot, rather than having to leave the field and wait for the next game to go out, you go to the closest respawn point, wipe off your old hit, and get right back in the game so the action only stops when you run out of paint, air, or you need to hydrate.

Basically, a scenario game is your traditional “Big Game” with way more awesome stuff going on.

Over the years we have brought in helicopters,

airplanes,

and tanks.

Why should you play a scenario game? Because it’s one of the best times you will ever have playing paintball. You will make new friends, meet people from all over New England and beyond, the camaraderie is awesome, and you will get a killer workout. The beauty of a scenario game is you don’t need to be a “hardcore” paintball player to contribute to your team. All skill levels are welcome! This is as close as you are going to get to a video game in real life. More importantly, you will play more paintball on these days than any other paintball event out there.
